This "plate art" depicts the ruins of Drachenfels Castle on the Rhine, accompanied by a hand-lettered quote from Lord Byron’s Childe Harold's Pilgrimage: "The castled crag of Drachenfels / Frowns o'er the wide and winding Rhine." The verso (back) features the artist's signature "Milly," the 1921 date, and production notations "Orig art" and "5-469-34," indicating this was a commissioned work for a book or literary journal. Attributed to the modernist illustrator Milly Possoz (1888–1968), known for her precise and delicate line work. Condition: Good antique condition. The paper shows a distinct "mat burn" perimeter and light foxing/spotting consistent with its 100-year age. Sold unframed to ensure safe shipping and to allow for new archival matting. A rare survivor of early 20th-century European illustration art.
