The canvas was long ago adhered to a piece of wood backing with nails.
The wood backing appears to be newer than the painting. We estimate the painted canvas to be 1860-1870.

There is some surface wear such as craculature and small paint loss. The wea sis called patina, honest wear and lends a lot of character to this piece. See less
