Rescued from a historic Asheville estate, these urns feature a wonderful, authentic "chippy" patina where the black paint has weathered over decades to reveal the stone beneath.

While they capture the spirit of an old-world European garden, their construction and "estate provenance" strongly suggest they are high-end examples of mid-century American estate craft market that supplied grand Appalachian and Southern homes during the 1940s–1960s.

The design is notable for its dramatic scroll handles and deep gadrooning on the lower bowl, resting on a classic fluted pedestal and square plinth.
