A highly expressive Italian mid-century ceramic ewer in the manner of Bitossi, showcasing a dramatic interplay of form, glaze, and texture.
The sculptural silhouette features a high-gloss black neck with an elegantly elongated spout and looping handle, rising above a richly cratered lava glaze body in deep green-black tones. At its center, a vivid red glazed panel emerges organically through the textured surface, flowing downward into a naturalistic drip at the base—an iconic design language of 1960s–70s Italian studio ceramics.
The contrast between glossy and volcanic surfaces gives this piece a strong Brutalist presence while maintaining the warmth and artistry of hand-finished pottery. A compelling standalone object for collectors and designers alike.
Unmarked example. The form, glaze behavior, and unglazed foot are consistent with Italian export ceramics of the Bitossi/Raymor era.
