The base of this Chinese porcelain piece shows a reign mark written in blue inside a double circle. Translated, the characters (“大清乾隆年製”) read "Made in the Qianlong period of the Great Qing” Dynasty, which references the Qianlong Emperor's reign (1735-1796). This does not date the object to that period because such marks were often added to later pieces as a mark of respect or to indicate style.
