Mathurin Meheut was a painter of nature in Brittany, France in the early 20th century. His style is bold, colorful and animated. He did some work for the Henriot Quimper faiencerie, most notably a service, La Mer, in the early 1920s. The service features fish, crabs, an octopus, and shells with a green stripped border. With its Art Deco style and charming portraits of sea life, items from this service are among the most coveted of Quimper faience.
