A pair of early mid-20th century figural bookends in nickel-plated brass with an excellent age-appropriate patina. Each bookend features an athlete in the moderne style: a larger boxer and a smaller discus thrower. Similar in style to production of the Werkstatte Hagenauer in Vienna.
The bookends themselves measure 4.25” long and 3.5” wide. The boxer measures 5.25” high and the discus thrower measures 4.5”. Each bookend is stamped “Austria” on the bottom.
In very good vintage condition with some wear to the nickel plating as shown. The ankle of the discus thrower is slightly bent but this does not affect the integrity of the figure.
