Made by Hobbs of London, who produced top quality furniture, this desk has a cylinder top and flat front which opens out to reveal the leather top work surface. To do this, you pull open the drawer which engages the inner mechanism, which opens the cylinder part of the desk. This opens and closes smoothly. The interior has drawers for storage as well as compartments for pens and inkwells. Made of maple and inlaid with fine detailed boxwood garlands, scrolls, and flowers. The makers mark is stamped on the drawer lock, Hobbs, London. In very good antique condition with minor age and use wear. Recently waxed and polished. See less
