Gyllenberg arts and crafts era hand forged and hammered solid copper vase circa 1910-12. This vase is 9” tall with a 4” opening at the top and has a 3.5” diameter bottom. It’s really quite heavy for its size weighing in at 1 pound and 15.7 ounces or about 900 grams. It’s a much heavier gauge copper in comparison to a Roycroft copper vase of the same size. The stylized flower formed shape at the top opening and again at the bottom with two bulging undulations coming up from the base adds to its organic structure. The hammering work deliberately varies from long pulled vertical divots to short and closely arranged horizontal divots adding a more 3-D prospective to this fine vessel. We believe the rich dark browns and revealed copper edges are the result of a time honored patina. Especially since the patina isn’t perfect revealing a couple very minor shiny copper scratches. We’ve tried to find a comparable vase that was signed by Gyllenberg. We discovered many different beautiful styles and sizes of bowls - but not a vase oddly enough. So with that in mind - what is at offer here is quite unique to say the least. A collector’s dream. See less
