Matched pair of Arts and Crafts era hand-hammered metal salt and pepper shakers, studio made and dated 1926.
Each shaker features a faceted hexagonal base, tapered body with visible hammer marks, and a removable finial top that unscrews. Both pieces are stamped with the same matching number, indicating they were made as a set, and each bears a faint rectangular maker's mark inside the base consistent with small workshop Arts and Crafts metalwork of the 1920s.
One shaker is hand inscribed inside the base with the name "R. Mabel Keene" and the date 1926. The inscription appears period and is discreetly placed inside the base, not visible during display. This is believed to be an original ownership or gift inscription from the time of manufacture.
The metal appears to be a copper alloy such as brass or bronze and retains its original aged patina. No polishing has been done. Construction, form, and marking practices align with American Arts and Crafts studio metalwork rather than factory or hotelware production.
