The vase features a dramatic, flared "free-form" rim and a bold "Fat Lava" drip glaze. The exterior is finished in a deep, lustrous mirror black-brown finish, which serves as a canvas for a psychedelic explosion of hand-applied glazes in emerald green, electric blue, sunset orange, and violet.

The interior of the flared rim is equally vibrant, showcasing the "splatter" and "drip" techniques that made the artisans of Vallauris, a region famously championed by Pablo Picasso, so influential in post-war European design. This sculptural vessel is as much a work of abstract art as it is a functional home accent.
