A hand-built terracotta sculpture depicting a Spinone Italiano hunting dog, modeled with pronounced wire-hair texture and a grounded, naturalistic stance. The hollow-formed body reveals interior scrape marks and uneven wall thickness consistent with studio construction rather than mold production.
Surface articulation emphasizes the breed’s coarse coat and expressive facial structure, indicating observational familiarity rather than generic stylization. The clay retains its natural earthen tone with minimal pigment accents, prioritizing form and tool work over glaze.
Unsigned yet clearly artisanal, the piece aligns with late 20th-century studio ceramics and folk-influenced animal sculpture. It presents as an authentic handmade object with strong tactile presence, suited to collectors of canine forms and European studio craft traditions
