The 'gnarled' textures, unique grain patterns, deep natural depressions, and 'live-edge' voids of this tall piece celebrate the raw, organic beauty of rare burls wood that established Bernson’s at the forefront of this unique modernistic aesthetic.

Over 12” tall, 12” at widest point. the neck of the vessel is fitted with a glass insert enabling the organic art object to also function as a vase.

Purchased in 1983, the piece has been owned by the original collector for over four decades. The original handwritten sticker, which reads ‘Buckeye $750’, is still affixed to the bottom.

Condition is excellent, no nicks or scratches. The natural "voids" and textures are inherent to the "live-edge" aesthetic and Bernson's signature style.

Bruce Bernson’s work is held in Smithsonian Institution permanent museum collections and featured in prestigious publications and galleries.

A self-taught woodturner, resided near Santa Barbara, California Bernson had been known to travel far as Oregon, and scour land-clearing and seacoast after storms in search of striking, uniquely grained wood. See less
