A beautiful hand-turned alabaster vase in a classic campagna or mortar form, featuring a wide flared rim, waisted neck, and circular pedestal base. The stone is a soft, creamy white with natural translucency characteristic of fine gypsum alabaster. The interior shows attractive concentric lathe-turning marks, evidence of traditional stone-turning craftsmanship.
Likely Italian (Volterra, Tuscany) or possibly Egyptian in origin, dating to the late 19th or early-to-mid 20th century.
In good antique condition with minor surface wear consistent with age.
No chips or cracks. Has a slight green under huge.
Purchased at an antique market in England.
