This came out of the estate of James Tucker he was a artist and a collector of fine art. This abstract piece is signed but cannot make out the name. It measures 23.75" wide and 17 1/8" tall it is on watercolor paper. Title is #14 made in 1958 first name starts with a F second starts with a B. I believe these are a block print of some sort black on paper. I will be listing 3 other pieces he did in this series.
GREENSBORO — James E. Tucker, 80, of 632 Scott Ave., died Sunday , Dec. 19, at Maryfield after a long illness.
He was born in Rule, TX, August 13, 1930, to Lillie Brashears Tucker and J. E. Tucker, the youngest of 5 brothers and one sister, all of whom predeceased him. After graduating from Seymour, TX, High School in 1948, he attended Santa Monica City College and Midwestern U. in Wichita Falls, TX, before enlisting in the Air Force in January 1951. After being honorably discharged from the service in the fall of 1954 as a Staff Sgt. , he enrolled at the Univ. of Texas and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in August 1956 and met his future wife, Virginia Acheson Johns. The following spring they were married and the same year he received a scholarship for graduate study at the State Univ. of Iowa and received the Master of Fine Arts degree in 1959. That fall he joined the faculty of the Woman's College of the University of NC--now UNCG--coco
He was also an active painter for many years, and his works are represented in many collections in Greensboro and elsewhere
