Venini “Alga” Seaweed Glass Chandelier – Murano, Italy, 1960s
We are a family selling a chandelier that has been in our possession for many years. This is not a dealer or gallery listing. We are simply the original owners of this piece and are offering it for sale for the first time.
The chandelier is a Venini Murano glass “Alga” (seaweed) chandelier, made in Italy in the 1960s. It is composed of 53 individual hand-blown Murano glass elements, each shaped like flowing seaweed and suspended from a central chain-linked body. When fully assembled, it forms a dramatic, tapering column of glass that diffuses light beautifully. This chandelier is perfect for a room corner or above a staircase.
Each glass element is hand-blown and unique, with natural variations in shape and texture consistent with authentic Murano production. The central column holds five light bulbs, which illuminate the glass from within.
