An antique Moroccan ceramic vessel from Fez, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century.
This piece reflects the refined decorative tradition of Moorish craftsmanship, where hand-thrown earthenware is enhanced with intricately applied metal filigree. The surface is richly detailed with hand-painted polychrome motifs in cobalt, turquoise, ochre, and cream, arranged in balanced geometric and stylized floral compositions. Each section is carefully framed in twisted wirework, demonstrating a high level of precision and time-intensive artistry.
The sculptural double-handled form and proportioned silhouette are characteristic of North African vessels of this period, originally intended for water or oil but often elevated into decorative objects through the addition of fine metal overlay.
The filigree, likely silvered or nickel alloy, has developed a soft, even patina that complements the aged glaze beneath. Subtle irregularities throughout speak to its handmade origin and authenticity. A hand-applied mark is present on the underside.
An elegant and highly detailed example of early Moroccan artisan work, with both sculptural presence and historical depth. Suitable as a standalone statement piece or within a layered, collected interior.
