Lyons is renowned for inventing this unique printmaking process, which involves applying pigment-colored clay slips onto a wet slab of clay (the "matrix") and pulling the design onto a permanent substrate, such as paper, canvas, or a synthetic fiber material like Reemay. This method creates one-of-a-kind abstract works where the "ink" is actually colored clay. His work is characterized by organic, textured abstract shapes and layers of color achieved through his specialized ceramic decoration techniques. Signed in pencil in lower right corner.

Mitch Lyons - received a M.F.A. in ceramics from Tyler School of Art, and his B.F.A. from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His works are included in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States, such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Woodmere Art Museum, American University, and the Noyes Museum among others.

This exuberant mono print, framed with museum glass, measures 16.75” x 20.75”.
