This elegant piece is a French Horn Bouillotte lamp, a classic design that originated in 18th-century France. The term "bouillotte" refers to a popular gambling card game of the time, and these lamps were specifically designed to sit in the center of the gaming table.

It features a brass base with arms shaped like hunting horns (French horns), which support multiple candle-style lights.

Traditionally, these lamps include an adjustable tole (painted metal) shade. The shade was designed to be lowered as the candles burned down, keeping the glare out of the players' eyes.

 This particular model reflects a Neoclassical or Empire style, characterized by the ornate brass work and the black lacquered column base.

Stiffel lamps are highly regarded by collectors because of their heavy solid brass construction and superior "Stiffel Finish"—a multi-step plating process that was more durable than many other mid-century manufacturers.
