A refined and quietly striking set of three antique Dutch botanical engravings, professionally framed in Antwerp in the 1980s by a fine art dealer and restoration studio. These works are late 18th to early 19th century impressions from 17th-century Dutch Golden Age engravings capturing the enduring beauty and scientific precision of early European botanical illustration.
Each plate features meticulously rendered specimens including tulips, irises, and daffodil-type narcissus shown in full botanical study, from bloom to bulb. The compositions are both decorative and scholarly, with delicate linework, subtle hand-coloring, and softly aged paper that speaks to their history.
The presentation elevates them into true wall art: generous neutral matting creates breathing room around each engraving, while the warm-toned wood frames add depth and a sense of architectural structure. The result is balanced, understated, and highly livable.
In the vein of Axel Vervoordt, Rose Uniacke, Ilse Crawford, Jacques Grange, Peter Marino, and Soane Britain.
