Direct from France, a dramatic PAIR of antique Breton carved figural pedestal stands with exceptional sculptural presence.

Each solid chestnut baluster features a full-length, dimensionally carved Breton figure (male and female) in period attire. Note the form of the bodies, the facial features, and the detailed carving to the clothing and accessories. These hand carved details reflect the Celtic roots of the Brittany region of France, with all the hallmark features of the Breton style.

The square table tops have fully carved beveled edges with large drop finials to each corner. The figures are set on thick, carved baluster columns above elaborately detailed stacked platform bases with acanthus carvings and button trim.

A rare, matched PAIR, increasingly difficult to find, these stands are a superb European addition to any décor, excellent for displaying plants, bronze or a prized cache pot, and particularly well suited for flanking any focal point, from entry to dining room.

Quality throughout; well carved by craftsmen of the period, circa 1900.
