The subtly bowed fronts and softly rounded corners create a sense of fluidity, while the finely carved drawer fronts are adorned with delicate foliate and stylized shell motifs, centered by sculptural cartouches.
Each commode is fitted with original-style bronze hardware, thoughtfully scaled and placed to complement the carved decoration without overwhelming it. The apron is subtly shaped and finished with carved detailing, rising on elegant cabriole legs adorned with scallop shell motif that lend lightness and poise to the overall form.
The warm patina of the walnut has developed beautifully over time, enhancing the depth of the grain and giving the pair a quiet, established presence. Well-proportioned and highly versatile, they serve effortlessly as bedside chests, anchoring a room with symmetry and refinement.
