The five drawers are finely carved with low-relief acanthus designs that scroll across the fronts, animating the panels with near perfect symmetry. Drawers glide easily using the slender brass drop handles; note the keyhole escutcheons are only decorative without an original key present. Bulbous bun feet elevate the dark case from the floor. Here is an outstanding example of English craft blending with the flourish one might expect of Italian or French furniture of similar age.
