Part of Platner’s iconic collection that transformed industrial steel rods into sculptural furniture forms, this rare loveseat / sofa features the elusive bronze wire frame, far less common than the nickel-plated versions, and no longer in production.

The curved architectural silhouette is formed from hundreds of vertical steel rods, welded with horizontal rings to create a structure that is at once airy and monumental. The base is finished in the original bronze patina, lending warmth and depth that distinguishes it from later reproductions.

Knoll ceased production of the Platner sofa decades ago, making early examples like this especially desirable to collectors and design purists. Today, the company only offers the lounge chair and ottoman in a faux bronze finish, further emphasizing the rarity and authenticity of this original.

CONDITION:
Bronze frame is in very good condition with attractive light patina. Fabric is attractive and clean with minor age and wear. Foam has hardened areas and would benefit from being replaced. Original fabric can be retained or can be reupholstered to a new fabric of your choice. See less
