Statement-sized mid-century modern Scandanavian art glass dish in emerald green, designed by the legendary Erik Höglund for Boda Glasbruk (now part of Kosta Boda).
This line of heavy dishes and bowls was produced in Sweden during the 1960s and 70s. Höglund was famous for his "primitive" aesthetic, often incorporating stylized figures, animals, or faces into chunky, heavy glass. Although it was originally marketed as a dish, this striking piece works well as a sculptural accent, especially in areas where light can cast through the vibrant green.
The piece includes bubbles and slight variations in the glass, which are intentional characteristics of Höglund's work. The glass is hand-inscribed on the back with "11873/D", which is the Boda production/catalog number. At 9.5" tall and over an inch thick, this is one of the largest size variants produced.
