Rarely found at this scale, a substantial Italian terracotta "grotto" planter fully encrusted in the coquillage tradition, with densely layered gastropod shells applied in overlapping diagonal registers across the entire exterior. Original limewash paint patina. Workshop wire loops at rim intact. Minor shell loss consistent with age. Drainage hole in bottom.
At 25" diameter and 18" height, a commanding presence for a loggia, courtyard, or interior garden setting
