Brussels was one of the most important tapestry weaving centers in Europe during the Baroque period, producing textiles for large-scale wall hangings in aristocratic interiors. This pillow features a fragment-based composition, where sections of the original tapestry have been joined together. The result is a more abstract presentation, with visible transitions between areas of pattern and tone. Faint botanical elements remain, though much of the design has softened over time. The color palette consists of muted earth tones with small areas of blue and red still visible near the edges.The weave is clearly visible throughout, showing the handwoven structure and age of the textile.
