RICARDO BLASEOTTO
He was born in Buenos Aires in 1940. He studied art at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1967. He had been exhibiting his work since 1964 in various group shows and salons, including Ten Young Painters at Galería Van Riel in 1964 and Seven Painters at Casa del Chaco, Buenos Aires, in 1967, among others.
In 1973, he was included in the Marcelo de Ridder Prize at the National Museum of Fine Arts, and in 1981 in the Jornadas de la Crítica at Galería del Retiro. His first solo exhibition took place in 1966 at the Young Art Gallery of the Teatro Colón. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in galleries such as Lirolay, Angelus, Ática, and Soudán.
Since the 1970s, he has not participated in national or private salons. He later joined Galería Arroyo, exhibiting there in 1999 and 2001. In 2004, he exhibited at Galería Hoy en el Arte in Pinamar, and in 2007 at Galería Alicia Brandy.
In student salons, he received Second Prize in Painting in 1964, First Prize in 1965, and in 1968 Third Prize at the Autumn Salon of the Municipality of San Fernando, as well as an Honorable Mention at the Salon of the Mutual Society of Students and Graduates of Fine Arts at the Eduardo Sívori Museum.
An urban landscape painter, his use of color gradually moved away from certain Fauvist stridencies to explore a more textural surface. Thus, from his earlier depictions of bars and port scenes, his work now focuses on a series centered on the beaches of the Atlantic coast. His painting oscillates between silence and a deep, almost metaphysical figuration. (Silvia Pellegrini)
