A rare and visually arresting set of French modernist chargers designed by artist Jean-Luc Bertrand for Bouillet-Bourdelle, executed in polished stainless steel with hand-polychromed “Metanode” panels.
Each surface is individually treated through an anodizing process unique to the atelier, resulting in richly layered, mineral-like compositions in deep violet, indigo, and atmospheric steel blue. The effect is reminiscent of natural agate or celestial formations, yet entirely man-made—an intentional dialogue between industrial process and artistic intervention.
The softly contoured square forms, framed in mirror-polished steel, create a striking interplay of reflection and depth. No two examples are identical, underscoring their origin as artist-finished works rather than purely functional tableware.
