A striking vintage brass bird sculpture designed by renowned Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasamín (1919–1999) and produced by Taller Guayasamín, the artist’s studio workshop. This sculptural piece exemplifies the expressive modernist language that defines Guayasamín’s artistic legacy, translating his bold artistic sensibility into three-dimensional form.
Executed in polished brass with engraved feather detailing, the sculpture depicts a stylized bird standing elegantly on slender legs. The body is decorated with hand-etched scale-like patterns, while the head features striking turquoise-colored cabochon eyes, creating a vivid focal point. The layered wing elements and sweeping tail add dynamic movement and sculptural presence.
Signed on the underside “Taller Guayasamín”, confirming its production within the artist’s studio.
With its refined craftsmanship and strong sculptural silhouette, the piece functions beautifully as a decorative object for interior designers, collectors of Latin American modernism, and mid-century design enthusiasts. It displays wonderfully on a console, bookshelf, cocktail table, or curated art vignette.
Works from the Taller Guayasamín studio are increasingly sought after by collectors due to their connection to one of Latin America’s most influential artists of the twentieth century.

His work is represented in major museum collections worldwide and he exhibited extensively across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. In addition to painting, Guayasamín collaborated with his workshop, Taller Guayasamín, to produce sculptural and decorative works that carried his distinctive artistic vision into collectible objects and design pieces.
Today, Guayasamín’s works are highly regarded by collectors and institutions alike, and his legacy continues through the Fundación Guayasamín in Quito, which preserves and promotes his artistic contributions.
