They are in the Gustavian style, they were recently … Read more An impressive and beautifully designed pair of antique Swedish neoclassical armchairs. They are in the Gustavian style, they were recently imported from Sweden and date from around the 1890-1900 period.

The quality is outstanding, and they are of lovely proportions. The frames are beautifully carved, with Egyptian inspired heads on the arm rests and hairy paw feet, both of which are beautifully gilded. The have very high quality ormolu mounts on the lower edges of the seats and the upper edges of the back rests.

We have had the frames re-polished and they have been re-upholstered in a cream cotton fabric. The condition is superb throughout.
