This expressive mixed media work on paper by Lenore Gimpert was commissioned by the Detroit Opera House and captures the emotion and grandeur of performance through abstraction. Signed lower right. A central heart-like form emerges from a flourish of dynamic white strokes, suggesting the dramatic burst of a stage costume or an operatic crescendo. The background shimmers with a warm golden hue, layered with handwritten text and gestural marks, adding poetic texture and depth. Splashes of white and gray dance across the surface, enhancing the sense of movement and theatricality. Rich with emotional resonance and symbolic forms, the piece evokes both the energy and elegance of the operatic arts. As a commissioned work for the Detroit Opera House, this piece reflects Lenore Gimpert’s long-standing engagement with themes of emotion, music, and performance. Her intuitive approach and layered materials imbue the work with both visual and emotional complexity, making it a fitting homage to the performing arts institution. From a private collection. Dimensions: 37.25"h x 31.25"w x 2.25"d (framed). In very good condition.
