About the Artist:

Artist Joyce Roybal was born in Italy in 1955. His artwork was primarily influenced by Graciela Boulanger, and his subject matter rarely strayed from round-faced children at play. Joyce Roybal's paintings are lighthearted and almost cartoonish, using bright, textured colors and geometric shapes. The perfectly symmetrical faces of the children in his paintings and their curved or blocked body structures give his paintings an abstract feel. Joyce Roybal's painting Musical Enchantment, which features five children playing various instruments, could be easily reproduced and made into graphic art items like note cards, prints, or illustrations.
