A knife-edge rectangular bolster pillow, made out of an Early 20th century Japanese Silk Obi.
The fabric used for this pillow cover is a 1920s black silk Obi, with a spectacular gold brocade, and floral decorations in red, green, and blue. Soft and thick raso silk, in perfect condition for its long age.
The Obi is the long sash that wraps around a kimono to fasten it to the body. Through history, it became a high status symbol and a fashion statement, based on the quality of the materials (especially silk), and the decorations embroidered in it.
The pillowcase was designed and built with a 1-inch flange around the edges, and a dark grey layer of similar silk has been placed in between front and back flanges. where the hidden zipper is located.
Dimensions: 30" Long x 10" High. With flange: 12" x 32".
Includes a brand new poly-dacron firm insert, shipped along with the pillow cover.
