The combination of “La Porte” and “Barmen” (a district of the German city of Wuppertal) does not refer to a furniture manufacturer per se, but to a historically significant manufacturer of furniture hardware and locks, which supplied high-quality hardware to designer furniture workshops that produced luxury furniture The name La Porte Barmen is often stamped on locks and metal components of antique furniture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
