The model "244" armchair was designed by Axel Larsson for Bodafors in 1947, during the transition period in which the designer helped lead Swedish design from the Nordic Classicism of the 1930s to the more essential language of Scandinavian modernism. The frame is made of beech, while the seat and backrest are in molded teak. The design highlights a balance between rigor and softness of form: the open structure visually lightens the armchair, while the balanced proportions and the angle of the legs create a stable and comfortable seat. Of particular interest is the construction detail of the laminated armrest ends, a feature that harks back to the tradition of Swedish cabinetmaking and underscores the attention to craftsmanship typical of Bodafors.
