Historically, baskets like this were made to appeal to tourists traveling through the region in the early 1900's. It’s skillfully crafted from natural materials, with coils of grass and yucca for the lighter areas, and a dark design woven from Devil’s claw.
When Clover’s Cottage acquired it, the basket came from an estate sale that included items once owned by a noted expert on Pima Indian baskets. See less
