Elegant French Art Deco commode from the 1930s, sourced in Paris, crafted in richly figured rosewood veneer over a solid mahogany frame. The façade and top feature striking book-matched grain with deep espresso and amber tones, allowing the wood itself to serve as the primary ornament. Professionally restored in our workshop, the structure has been reinforced and the finish refreshed to highlight the depth and clarity of the rosewood while preserving its character. The case is defined by clean architectural lines, rounded front corners, and integrated fluted pilasters - hallmarks of refined French Deco cabinetry. A subtly stepped top adds further definition without visual heaviness. Four spacious drawers provide practical storage for clothing or household items. Drawer boxes are constructed of solid oak with traditional hand-cut dovetail joinery, reflecting quality craftsmanship and long-term durability. Original-style metal drop pulls with shell-form backplates provide understated contrast to the dark wood, while a central escutcheon on the top drawer retains the piece’s original locking function. The commode rests on tapered fluted block feet that continue the vertical rhythm of the pilasters, giving the piece a grounded yet elegant stance. Versatile in scale and function, it works beautifully as a bedroom chest, dressing commode, or statement storage piece in a living room or entry.
