A dramatic and highly sculptural Brutalist wall-mounted fountain executed in brass and copper tubular elements, dating to the 1970s and attributed to American artist Silas Seandel. The composition is formed from vertically arranged, torch-cut tubular forms with jagged, expressive edges, creating a dynamic interplay of texture, depth, and movement.
The surface features a rich, multi-tonal patina—blending warm golden brass with oxidized copper, burnt sienna hues, and darker areas of natural oxidation—characteristic of the flame-worked, organic aesthetic associated with Seandel’s practice. The tubular construction adds a strong architectural quality, while integrated basins and protrusions create a cascading structure originally intended to guide flowing water.
The piece represnets a compelling wall sculpture, embodying the bold, industrial elegance of mid-century Brutalist design and serving as a striking focal point in any interior.
The fountain mechanism is currently not operational and will require a replacement pump to restore its intended function. Priced accordingly.

About the artist :
Silas Seandel (American, b. 1937)
Silas Seandel is an American sculptor and designer best known for his bold, expressive works in metal, particularly brass, bronze, and copper. Emerging in the 1960s and rising to prominence in the 1970s, Seandel became closely associated with the Brutalist movement, creating highly textured, sculptural furniture and wall pieces defined by their raw, organic forms and dramatic surfaces.
Working primarily with torch-cut and welded metal, Seandel developed a distinctive visual language characterized by jagged edges, layered compositions, and richly varied patinas achieved through heat and chemical processes. His works often blur the line between functional design and fine art, with pieces that feel both architectural and sculptural.
Seandel’s work has been widely collected by interior designers, architects, and private collectors. Today, his pieces are considered emblematic of mid-century American studio metalwork and remain highly sought after for their strong visual presence and craftsmanship.
