This Art Deco faience vase by St Clement, produced in France circa the 1930s, is finished in a pale blue glaze and features a sculptural relief of stylised floral and foliate motifs. The teardrop-shaped body rises from a gently defined foot to a narrowed neck with a rounded lip, creating a balanced and harmonious silhouette characteristic of the period. Crafted in faience, the vase demonstrates a refined use of moulded decoration, with modernist flowers and foliage arranged in low relief across the surface. The composition is framed by subtle scalloped borders at both the base and the shoulder, adding a rhythmic visual structure to the design. The soft blue glaze enhances the relief work, pooling slightly within recesses and catching light across the raised surfaces. The underside bears the impressed St Clement mark alongside the design name “Gr.Fleurs” and model number 833, confirming its production and origin.
Condition is good for age and use, with some firing flaws visible in the glaze, minor surface wear, and areas of light crazing. These are consistent with the manufacturing process and age of the piece. The vase remains structurally sound and presents well.
