The baluster form rises from a narrow foot to a flared neck, creating a poised and symmetrical silhouette characteristic of early twentieth-century Gouda pottery. The surface is finished in a dark earthy green ground, overlaid with stylised ornament in russet, yellow, cobalt blue, and green. The decoration is arranged in a rhythmic, symmetrical composition, with scrolling and foliate motifs typical of the Rhodian style. Cobalt blue borders articulate both the base and the lip, framing the central decoration and reinforcing the structure of the design. Executed in a matte glaze, the surface has a soft, velvety quality that enhances the depth and contrast of the painted decoration. The underside is signed with the shape number, pattern name, and house code, confirming its manufacture by Zuid. Condition is very good for age and use. There are two areas of restoration to the base rim, both subtle and well integrated. Minor surface wear to the glaze is present, consistent with age. The vase is structurally sound and remains highly presentable.
