Founded and run by marcel fleiss, the gallery is a leading center for avant-garde, surrealism, and key 20th-century movements, and remains at its original location on rue bonaparte in paris. The poster was acquired directly from the gallery in 1992 and is part of a fascinating curatorial juxtaposition: while the gallery focused on avant-garde movements, it also presented objects and designs from the 1940s and 1950s. This deliberate juxtaposition of different design eras lends the poster additional depth and makes it an authentic historical document of the international design and art scene.
