The dramatic work has a richly textured, atmospheric surface with expressive brushwork, subtle tonal transitions, and a few areas of visible thick patches of paint that give it depth and character. Generally painted with gouache in a flat velvety matt finish on a highly absorbant soft flannel like canvas.
