Built of solid oak, the rectangular top is constructed from thick planks and has been bleached to reveal the natural grain and softened patina of the wood. Four decorative diamond-shaped iron inlays add subtle contrast across the surface, while the timeworn top displays beautiful grain movement, knots, and natural wear consistent with age.
The Louis XIII table is supported by a pair of squared “Montferrer” baluster-shaped pedestals, each carved with paneled sides and raised on dense molded shoe feet. The bases are joined by a substantial central stretcher using traditional mortise-and-tenon construction, providing excellent strength and stability. This robust architectural design recalls the enduring practicality of large refectory tables historically used in French monastery dining halls and provincial farmhouses.
The warm bleached oak surface and sculptural trestle base create a strong yet inviting presence, making the table well suited for a dining room, kitchen, or wine cellar setting. In excellent antique condition commensurate with age and use, the table will accommodate 8 to 10 people.
