A handsome pair of late 19th century French Louis XVI style bergère armchairs crafted in carved beechwood and retaining their original cane seats and backs.
These elegant chairs feature classic neoclassical details including fluted tapering legs, carved rosette corner blocks, and a decorative laurel garland carved across the serpentine seat rail. The shaped backrests and scrolled arms give the chairs a graceful silhouette while maintaining the refined symmetry characteristic of Louis XVI design.
Both chairs retain their hand-woven cane seats and backs, offering a lighter and more architectural look than upholstered examples. The frames display a warm aged patina with subtle wear that highlights the depth of the carving.
Scrolled arms are fitted with later green leather arm pads secured with nail head trim.
