Handmade ceramic Torito de Pucará from the Pucará region of southern Peru. These bulls have been produced since at least the 19th century in the Andes and are traditionally placed on rooftops in pairs as symbols of protection, fertility, and abundance.
This example is hand-formed and painted in a matte palette of green, black, and natural clay. It features characteristic decorative elements including circular and geometric motifs, a saddle-like opening on the back, and applied details around the face and horns. The surface shows visible brushwork and irregularities consistent with traditional production methods.
