Offered is a stunning, sophisticated pair of oversized hexagonal vases by renowned American ceramic artist John Shedd. Standing at an impressive 13.5 inches, these architectural vessels are masterclasses in high-fire reduction glazing, showcasing a dramatic Oxblood Flambé finish.
The glaze on these pieces is exceptionally dynamic: a rich, deep plum-red that "breaks" at the sharp hexagonal corners to reveal a luminous turquoise and lavender. The surface features intricate "Hare’s Fur" micro-crystalline streaking and "Oil Spot" details, a direct homage to ancient Chinese Jun and Jian ware traditions.
The hexagonal (six-sided) form provides a modern, geometric silhouette that feels both ancient and contemporary. Each piece is hand-incised on the base with the artist's signature "JS" mark.

There is one minor, pin-sized fleabite on the base edge of one vase, consistent with age and handling. Any slight variations in glaze texture are innate to the handmade artisan process and the flambé firing technique. less
