Attributed to Los Angeles artist and graphic designer Bob Zoell, this rare pair of conceptual typographic posters exemplifies the experimental visual language and graphic innovation emerging from Southern California's art and design community during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Printed on heavy cardstock in bold red, black, and white, the posters employ fragmented typography, visual wordplay, and concrete-poetry-inspired compositions that invite the viewer to actively construct meaning. Both posters reference 318 Omar Street, Downtown Los Angeles, suggesting they were produced for a specific event, exhibition, or happening associated with the city's vibrant conceptual art scene.
The graphic quality is exceptional, functioning equally well as collectible design objects and striking wall art. Their aesthetic anticipates later postmodern typography while remaining firmly rooted in the experimental California design culture of the period.
A scarce surviving pair with strong appeal for collectors of graphic design, conceptual art, California ephemera, and postwar visual culture.
Condition: Vintage condition with visible water staining and discoloration at margins and corners, as well as minor handling wear consistent with age. Colors remain strong and the graphic impact is excellent. Unframed.
