The book is a detailed monograph documenting the volcano's evolution over its first eight years of activity.
This art book is compilation of many of Dr. Atl’s own paintings, drawings, and photographs, along with his observations of the birth and evolution of the Paricutín from 1943 - 1950.
Dr. Atl’s was obsessed with the Paricutín an lived by its side for 8 years. These conditions eventually contributed to the amputation of one of his legs caused by the exposure of the volcan's fumes.
Dedicated by Dr. Atl to a friend in the event of his visit to New York in December 27, 1950. Dr. Atl signature and hand numbered, No. 29 of 1,500 copies.
Translation of the dedication: "I send this book that has been just published as a ..... of my visit that has given me joy to New York and to have the pleasure of talking and shaking your hand to commence our long and beautiful friendship. Sincerely the Dr. Atl - Mexico - 27- XII -50"
Condition. Very good condition considering age and probable use. Beige cloth cover with minor discoloration. Title page printed in red and black with an original woodcut illustration and the spine with red lettering, is in very good condition. Illustrations and photos, no issues.
Measurements: 12 1/2 inches long x 9 1/2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches thick. See less
