A large-scale studio pottery vessel with a rich earth-tone glaze and subtle dragonfly etching—an organic, sculptural accent that brings depth, texture, and quiet presence to any interior.
This large studio art pottery vase offers a striking balance of form, texture, and natural character. Crafted in a substantial, hand-thrown style, the vessel features a softly tapered silhouette with a wide, grounded base and a gently narrowing neck, giving it a sculptural presence from every angle.
The glaze presents a beautifully layered earth-tone palette—ranging from warm ochre and caramel to deeper umber and espresso tones—with a mineral-like speckled texture that evokes natural weathering. The surface variation and tonal movement create depth and visual interest without relying on bold decoration.
One side of the vase features a delicately etched dragonfly motif, subtle and organic in execution. The opposite side remains clean and unadorned, allowing for two distinct styling directions—either highlighting the decorative element or presenting a more minimalist, gallery-like aesthetic.
This piece is substantial in both scale and weight, making it ideal as a standalone statement object or as part of a refined, layered interior. It pairs especially well with organic modern, wabi-sabi, and primitive-inspired spaces.

The surface exhibits natural glaze variation, including tonal shifts and speckling inherent to the firing process. Minor surface scuffs and light abrasions are present, particularly along the body and base, consistent with handling and placement over time. The underside shows expected wear from contact with surfaces. The etched dragonfly motif remains visible but subtle and will present more softly after polishing. No cracks or structural damage observed; the vessel is solid, stable, and fully functional. Overall, a well-preserved piece with character reflective of its handcrafted nature. less
